Non-CHC patient Consumable Ordering (from Monday January 7th 2019)

A small number of patients who require consumable items for the delivery of their care (items which are not available on FP10 prescription) previously received their consumable items from Gloucestershire Care Services teams and district nurses as their district nurses were often attending the patient.

From Monday 7th January 2019, the process for ordering consumable items for non-Continuing Health Care (CHC) patients registered with Gloucestershire GP practices who previously received consumables as described above, practices (practice nurses or nominated staff) can now order the required items-

  • Reading and following the process
  • Completing the ordering form available

This email address will be monitored several times each week. The CCG team will place the order with the supplier who will deliver directly to the patient’s home (unless specifically requested to the practice). It is essential to complete all of the order form questions to prevent delays in ordering.

The ordering process may take up to three weeks to complete depending on the items ordered, and the availability of them etc. It is therefore essential that items are ordered with enough time to spare.

Should there be an order required quickly, then you must complete the order form and send it. You are strongly advised to follow this up with a telephone call to the Prescription Ordering Line (0300 421 1215) to advise of the Request being made, and its urgency. You should ask to speak to the “Consumables Team”, who will either be able to speak to you currently or call you back shortly. The team will order the items as quickly as possible, although order and delivery timescales can only flex to a certain point. Please note that if you do need to telephone the POL team for this purpose, a call-queue system is in operation. Quieter times (i.e. shorter waits) tend to be from later morning onwards.

This refers to known specials available for certain therapies- see order form.

Specials there are a few special items that can be ordered directly from GHT which can save the more costly specials items from chemists.
